Colour

Happy weekend everyone! I hope you have been inspired by the glorious sun we have had this week and hint of Spring in the air – hurrah! What else has been inspiring you? I was asked this week what colour inspires me most as we come into Spring and so I decided to share with you a few images of my favourite colour/s being used in the home in different ways. I’m not entirely sure what to call my favourite colour – it’s kind of bluey/greeny/duck eggy/ verdi-gris/grey/Chartwelly/minty…do you get the idea?

Here is my favourite colour, and its different tones, in action on the walls, floor, cabinets, woodwork. I love it’s depth and yet how neutral it can be; it never steals the show and allows everything else to shine. What do you think?

A beautiful collection of images. I think I share your favourite colour – so soft and gentle, yet spring-like at the same time. And it works in so many different settings.

I love how it works in different settings and with different styles of home. I have never wanted to add colour to the walls of our new build flat as I want to keep as much light as possible and colour always seems a bit unnatural in a new build but as soon as we move to a house I can’t wait to experiment more. x

You’re right, it is so calming. I can just imagine sitting at that little desk in the bedroom pic and how lovely it would be x

Hello Katy, I love your blogs. I’m at a bit of of standstill in decorating. I’m not sure if I should paint our dark woodwork and doors in the home we just purchased? I tend to gravitate to dark colors on my walls and furniture and like soft lighting. We will be replacing all the carpet with dark hardwood in the next couple months. Is there a way I could either text or email you some pictures. I trust your judgement. Thanks and have a great weekend.

Oh, I love these colors! I was looking for a similar range of paint for one of my rooms and I settled on “Light Blue” from Farrow and Ball. I love how it turned out! It’s got that verdigris with blue undertones thing going on. Wish I knew what that color in the first photo was 🙂

Your room sounds lovely! If you ever find out the name of that colour, you must let me know! X

Love this colour, I agree with above its very calming and serene. I also love daffodils and a burst of yellow at this time of the year is perfect for inducing happiness. Adding colour to our homes is so important (especially at this dull time of year) A choice piece of painted furniture – like a cheery console in a hall, vase of flowers, cushions and throws can make all the difference and really lift a space.
