Painted white floor

I thought I’d give you a little floor update today (this may excite me more than you!). When I decided to do my hallway makeover (t’s going to be ready so soon – I will explain to you then why it has taken so long) it quickly became apparent that I needed a new floor covering as the fresh paint made the carpet look awful, which is not helped by having a very muddy dog. So, I wrote a post about how I chose a new floorΒ and I finally decided, after getting a quote of Β£3500 for a beautiful oak floor, that I needed to go cheap as my nice salary will no longer exist soon.

We pulled up the carpet in just the hallway last weekend and found MDF boards. We are going to seal these and use a Farrow and Ball floor paint to paint them white and then invest in some beautiful rugs. This floor will continue into the kitchen and sitting room, which I hope will give the flat a more modern feel, as beige carpet never seemed quite right with our white walls and huge windows. Anyhoo, I want to share my inspiration with you and then I promise to get it done soon and share how we did it…

Have a wonderful, sunny Sunday (definitely not a day for painting floors!).

Me too, Leanne. Still trying to persuade Jules to do all the painting whilst I go away for the weekend – strangely, he hasn’t agreed to that yet πŸ˜‰ x

I’m on the lookout for some white(ish) wood/laminate flooring for our living room to replace some grotty carpet. Dithering far too much – worried about it showing dirt, but I crave a light space – think I just need to go for it!! it’s only taken us 7 years…. πŸ™‚

There is no doubt that having carpet is a lot easier in terms of maintenance; with hard floors dirt collect so much more obviously. But I’m the same as you, Zoe – I really want a bright, airy space and our carpet is making me depressed! Hope you find what you want soon πŸ™‚ x

I can’t wait to see the end result. I hate our hallway. Unfortunately it is going to be a massive job- removing wood chip.Let us know the name of the colour you use and costing.

i love the pale grey colour. i’ve been umming and ahing about taking up the flooring in our bathroom and painting it white. My fil is a carpet fitter and is forever putting me off “the boards were never intended to be seen” etc etc. plus i don’t know what state they’re in until i take the plunge. so i will watch your blog with interest! x
