Loaf giveaway!

Hi everyone! I am very excited to be teaming up with Loaf this month to give my wonderful readers a chance to win a beautiful lamp, which is part of the new Loaf collection, ‘The Whole Hog’ – check it out, if you haven’t already.

Billy table loaf.com

Lots of lovely Loafy products in the Whole Hog collection.

Our competition will combine two of my favourite things: Loaf and Pinterest.  I get so much inspiration from Pinterest – in fact it was one of the reasons I started my blog in the first place – so I decided this should be the theme of the competition.

The lamp we would like to give away to a lucky reader is called the Apothecary lamp because while wandering around Jaipur last year the Loafers were inspired by a pile of glass apothecary jars in a chemist which – though pretty dusty – were stunning examples of brilliant old school Indian glass-blowing. It was decided they would make gorgeous lamps – and I hope you all agree that the end result is pretty gorgeous (I wish I could win it for myself!).

I couldn’t choose anything but this lamp for the prize because it matches the name of my blog, which was inspired by the first time I met Jules, my fiancé. We met in a bar whilst he was drinking from a bottle that looked like an apothecary jar. The bottle caught my attention before he did (sorry Jules!!).

What inspires you day to day? We would love to know.

I would like to win the @Loafdotcom #apothecarygiveaway from www.apartmentapothecary.com

Stocking fillers for a crafter

My amazing dad has always organised the most ginormous stockings that you have ever seen! He disappears on Christmas eve for a few hours and returns laden with stocking fillers for me and my two sisters, even now that we are all in our thirties. Our family tradition is to wake very early on Christmas morning and all open our stockings together. It’s probably the best part of the day.

This year, I will be with Jules’s family for Christmas so I’ve created a virtual stocking for the crafter in me: crafting supplies, lovely socks to keep my feet warm whilst sewing, cream to keep my hands looking good for blog posts, a lovely mug for that all important cup of tea, and we always get a magazine in our stocking.

If you need a few extra stocking fillers before the big day, this list may give you a couple of ideas that you can pick up this weekend…

The Garden Edit

The Garden Edit is a new online store set up by gardener, John Tebbs, who has brought together a beautiful collection of timeless pieces for, and inspired by, the garden.  If you are looking for a functional piece of art for a Christmas present this year, then you’ve found the right place. Everything is handcrafted: planters by ceramicist Pilar Wiley, copper bird feeders designed by American Vasse Vaught and made using vintage tools in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, brass and cane watering cans by Bauhaus trained designer Carl Aubock – this is no ordinary collection of products and no ordinary shopping experience.

Take a look for yourselves…

The Garden Edit. Designed in 1948, this indoor watering can is handmade from polished and patinated brass, with cane wrapped around its handle.

The Garden Edit: Spade with Steps by Sneeboer & Zn. This spade has a turned handle made of ash and a hand-forged stainless steel blade. It has a “D” handle for ease of grip, a step to protect your boot, and a smaller, shorter blade making it perfect for turning over an allotment or decorative border.

Great British Bake Off

I am totally in love with everything Great British Bake Off.  Mel and Sue are obviously the best bit (I wish they were my best friends!) but I also can’t get enough of the calming effect of watching others bake. Tuesday evenings are something special these days.

Unfortunately, I have never learnt how to bake, and if I’m honest, I don’t have much desire to learn, but I really adore kitchenalia. The GBBO set is so aesthetically pleasing, which is probably another reason I love the show. Therefore, I have put together some of my favourite baking accessories – perhaps this could be enough to inspire me to get baking…

Vintage rolling pins

What’s a kitchen without a vinatge rolling pin? Nothing, I tell you. Find a lovely selection at RE-found Objects.

Retro Betty and Walter apron

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous prints from the super-talented Lisa Levis. I love this pinny from the Betty and Walter collection.

Retro kitchen timer

Surely everyone needs a retro kitchen timer in their lives. Love this magnetic one from John Lewis.

Mason and Cash mixing bowl

Going all Downton Abbey with this Mason and Cash mixing bowl from John Lewis.

Love from Rosie vintage kitchen scales

Apparently being exact when it comes to measuring ingredients is important in baking so I’ve chosen these scales, which are new but have a vintage feel to them. Available from Love From Rosie.

Le Parfait preserving jars

Perhaps my favourite kitchen staple – Le Parfait preserving jars. Available from Dunelm Mill.

Blue and white enamel pie dish set

This five-piece enamel pie dish set from Liberty is perfect – can’t get enough of blue and white enamel.

Kitchen Aid

The Kitchen Aid is the secret star of the show. Available from Liberty.

Jamie Oliver cake tins

These Jamie Oliver cake tins will keep all those bakes fresh as a daisy. Like the vintage flavour of these tins.

Vintage glass butter dish

Beautiful butter dishes are a must when it comes to equipping your kitchen. Available from Not On The High Street.

Belle and Boo cupcake wraps

How sweet are these cupcake wraps? Can’t go wrong with Belle and Boo party accessories.

Jadeite cake stand

And last, but not least, these beautiful Jadeite cake stands are perfect to display your baking efforts. Available from Borrowed Blue.

Enjoy GBBO tonight! x
